The first edition of Wine Summit Puerto Rico, held on October 8 at the Aloft Hotel San Juan, became a strategic meeting point between Spanish producers and professionals from Puerto Rico’s food, beverage, and distribution industries.
Organized by FOOBESPAIN, S.L.U. and FOOBESPAIN AMERICAN LLC, the event brought together more than 20 Spanish producers of wine, extra virgin olive oil, spirits, and artisanal cheeses, and recorded high attendance from importers, distributors, Horeca, retail chains, and specialized media.
International media coverage
The event’s relevance quickly resonated across the media.
Agencia EFE, through outlets such as Impacto Media, Swissinfo y Yahoo News, reported that Wine Summit Puerto Rico gathered 24 Spanish producers representing different denominations of origin and welcomed 200 industry professionals including importers, distributors, sommeliers, restaurants, and supermarket chains.
The report also highlighted a key figure: imports of Spanish wine in Puerto Rico increased by 20% during the first half of the year, reinforcing Spain’s position as one of the island’s leading wine suppliers. This trend underscores Puerto Rico’s potential as a strategic market for Spanish food and beverage products.
A growing and promising market
According to EFE, Puerto Rico’s market shows a growing appetite for Spanish wines and gourmet products. The increased demand and warm reception among local industry professionals signal a clear opportunity for commercial expansion and a stronger Spanish presence in the Caribbean.
The event also helped foster synergies between producers already established in the market and new brands seeking to enter it, creating a professional environment that encourages networking and business development.
