This is a tricky matter. White, roses and sparkling wine win the game, in terms of consumption, over the red wine during the summer period. Although is not all over for the red wine, as soon as we choose which and how to pair it with food to enjoy them properly.
The thing is, we need to select refreshing and light dishes, followed by same taste profile of red wines. Let’s get into it:
- One of the options that most attracts us is a fresh tomato salad, nuts, and partisano, at sunset. In the meantime, we can enjoy a glass of Tempranillo by Antonio Serrano winegrower, clay amphora aged wine. A sweet, fresh, refreshing wine that will carry that salad to end the day properly.
- Cured and semi-cured goat cheeses. A must. It does not fail for desks with friends. The perfect complement can be a wine with some more complexity and passing through French and American oak. In this case we get rid of a single varietal Prieto Picudo made by Gordonzello: La Costana, DO León.
- If you are the type of person that like to innovate and risk, we can think about the following pair. Wok of rice noodles, prawns and sauteed vegetables. Here we look for a bodied wine along a balanced acidity and round tannin. It works perfectly to join it with Bobal en Calma de Dominio de la Vega, a 100% Bobal from Utiel-Requena with those notes of currants, cherries, and spicy hints.
- Can we think about a summer without a good rice? We are thinking about a rice with some vegetables accompanied by Dehesa del Carrizal MV. A Vino de Pago complex blend wine aged less than 1 year in French oak. Nice and subtle entrance in the palate, very round, ideal to enjoy these weeks. We recommend serving it a little bit colder than usual, for these days.
At Foobespain we have a wide portfolio of wines with varieties and winemaking ways so diverse that our wines can be enjoyed at any time of the year. Gastronomic wines that represent the origin of each of them.
